The View is Fine | Kunstkomplex + Mennuni

Employing a complex narrative assemblage of movie imagery, war photography and vintage advertisement, this exhibition takes the self-deception of the post-war American middle class – i.e., the narrative created by tabloids, television, and cinema – as a leading motive, and sidesteps into iconographically related themes. Through adding and subtracting meaning by combining images of destruction with portrayals of the virtues born from the American Dream, Heydt confronts the disillusionment of our time with the ecological and existential nightmare it is responsible for.

International Mini Print Cantabria | Sam HEYDT | 2019

International Mini Print Cantabria is a proposal of SM Pro Art Circle. Our passion for printmaking and especially for the format, our desire to make contemporary artists from around the world converge in an exhibition in our land and that our people have the possibility to enjoy it, have made us to develop it and work to incorporate Cantabria to the international Mini Print circuit. In 2018 we proposed to the Port Authority of Santander (Cantabria - Spain), councilor of the Faro Cabo Mayor Art Center, the joint realization of the first edition of the Mini Print Biennial under the postulate "The Sea and the Lighthouses", in the context of Impact 10 - Encuentro, International Multidisciplinary Printmaking Conference that we organized in the city of Santander. Although it was born as a Biennial, the immediate success of the call, the excellence of the artworks presented and the wonderful reception of the local public, led us to transform it into an annual event, in which the world of printmaking meets in Santander guided by the light of its most emblematic Lighthouse, the Cabo Mayor Lighthouse. For this reason, starting in 2019 and again together with the Port Authority of Santander, we began to travel the path of making the International Mini Print Cantabria bigger and more ecumenical year after year.

The 8th edition of the art publishing fair I Never Read, Art Book Fair Basel returns to Kaserne Basel from June 12 – 15 with around 120 institutional and independent publishers from around the globe. The fair is a platform dedicated to explore the relationship between contemporary art production, presentation and the book. The exhibitor line-up is completed by a dynamic programme that includes interactive installations, film, music, panel discussions, a radio station, and sport activities.
