Price of Production: Coltan in the Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a land so rich in mineral resources, yet it is one of the poorest in the world, repeatedly shaken by riots and still exploited. The turbulent history of this country from colonialism to today's struggle for commodities moves us, but it receives little attention in the media, although we are significantly involved in the exploitation of our consumption. Because what many do not know: Coltan is among others in our smartphones; Cobalt is needed for electric cars. But in Congo poverty is high.Parents can hardly feed their children, let alone pay school fees.
